This course aims at providing students with essential knowledge and concepts to prevent,
control, and manage the intricate environmental problems and the deterioration of natural
resources caused by water, air, noise and solid waste pollution. The course introduces the
necessary scientific concepts and up-to-date techniques for the environmental pollution
prevention and control in practical applications. It examines the principles for the design
and selection of pollution control technologies and waste management strategies, and the
theoretical and practical aspects on environmental monitoring for the performance
evaluation of different treatment and management processes. Laboratory experiments and
fieldwork will be conducted in order to provide students with hands-on training on the
application of the scientific monitoring and control methods to the problems associated
with water, air, noise and solid waste pollution.
